Is apparently no future at all...
JGL producer Tammy Robert reported this morning that she had spoken to Ryan Meili and he has confirmed that he has stepped down from the Saskatoon Sutherland NDP nomination that was to be held October 02nd.
Meili confirms this on his Facebook fan page.
"However, the often negative and divisive aspects of political life have taken their toll on me. For this reason I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for nomination in Saskatoon Sutherland."
Meili was the second runner up in the NDP leadership campaign to Lingenfelter and represented the shining light in the NDP renewal, as opposed to the divisive old school dirt-bag politics of Lingenfelter.
It is no secret Lingenfelter did NOT want Mieli to threaten his leadership or his regime, so he and his backers were quietly supporting (and some not so quietly) a political newcomer, Naveed Anwar.
Typically, someone stepping down from a nomination is at times no big deal, but not this time.
We believe this signals the official beginning of a civil war inside the NDP between Lingenfelter and his crew, and the many traditional NDP supporters who despise Lingefelter's management and hold the party to a higher moral standard.
Public wars are not a trademark of the Saskatchewan NDP, so watch for a series of defections to the Greens, or for usual NDP supporters to sit on their hands during the next election.
However, we are hearing of more and more people who have been marginalized by the Lingenfelter regime and are thinking about coming forward with exceptionally damning information about the way things have been run since he took over. We don't believe they are seeking revenge against Lingenfelter personally (although we believe privately they are), but they are seeking a noble way to save their party.
With Mieli stepping down, this is where it all officially starts...

The First Rule of a Losing Campaign
When you have no hope of winning, go for the smear! (And embarrass yourself in the process)
NDP Northwest candidate's Jan Dyky's first brochure referring to her competitor, the Sask Party's Gord Wyant
NDP Northwest candidate's Jan Dyky's first brochure referring to her competitor, the Sask Party's Gord Wyant
"Wyant made his career as a corporate and banking lawyer"...
Oh the horror! Run for the hills, he's a lawyer!
And how about this one?
"Wyant cares more about his bank account that public service. Despite already having considerable wealth, he says he may keep collecting nearly $51,000 per year of his city councillor salary..."
Besides being totally inaccurate (Wyant has already stated that he is taking a leave from city council during the writ period, and will step down if successful in the campaign...but don't let the facts get in the way of an attempted smear), how exactly do the NDP know about how much "considerable wealth" Wyant has?
Talk about trying to start a class war! Would Dyky be a better candidate if she and her husband were having trouble making ends meet, or if she was broke?
The more these people speak, the more they continue to expose themselves as mean-spirited rank amateurs.
Dyky has no hope of winning the seat. But in the meantime it seems like she's intent on embarrassing herself for the next 28 days. Good luck with that...
NDP - Narcissist Democratic Party
We're back on line after a lengthy Summer session, so lets get at it.
As you know, Premier Brad Wall has called an by-election for Saskatoon Northwest, the seat recently vacated by Serge Leclerc.
Let's see what NDP candidate, Jan Dyky thinks of herself...
In her own words, "What a great candidate... it will be a pleasure to have a strong new voice in the legislature, representing the constituents of Saskatoon Northwest!"
I think the constituents of Saskatoon Northwest will decide if Jan Dyky is a great candidate or not, regardless of what she thinks of herself.
Where does Lingenfelter find these people?

The Tolerant CUPE Union President
Well known NDP Orc Jacquie Christienson writes another LTTE in today's Star Phoenix
"Strange how Premier Brad Wall can play the big shot and suddenly fund clinical trials for phantom, emotion-based liberation treatments for multiple sclerosis."
Christienson has served on NDP constitiuency executives as well as a CUPE local president. She has never had a medical degree, yet she decries the "phantom, emotion based liberation" treatments for MS sufferers with a total disregard for them or their families.
The Premier is funding clinical trials which is the correct thing to do, but he never stated this was a or the only cure for MS, but he wants to find out.
Yet this Christenson ignormaus has already come to the conclusion that the liberation treatment is not real because she hates the Sask Party and in particular Brad Wall. She throws MS sufferers and their families under the bus, with no thought or empathy to their situations to advance a political agenda.
This is the voice of the unions and the NDP in today's Saskatchewan.

Right On Cue
In our previous post, we mentioned that SP/LP political columnist Murray Mandryk was lazy in his research and a mouthpiece for NDP talking points.
Thanks for proving our point so quickly. This is Mandryk's editorial from today, July 28th, 2010.
Potentially even more problematic for Wall is the recent Court of Appeal ruling that the Sask. Party won't be dropped from the new/old provincial Progressive Conservative party lawsuit seeking control over the $2.9-million PC Trust Fund.
Now take a look at this news release from the NDP caucus office from July 26th, 2010.
Today the Saskatchewan NDP called on Premier Brad Wall to take seriously his responsibility to uphold the democratic process in Saskatchewan, drop his legal stalling tactics, and admit the Saskatchewan Party's role in denying the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan access to its $3 million Trust Fund.
Mind you, he showed journalistic independence by not accepting Lingenfelter's $3 million dollar trust fund number. He used the more accurate $2.9 million figure. And he did wait an entire day before he wrote his column.
But the rest of the column could have been written by the NDP caucus staff themselves.
Mandryk once again proves he is not an objective political reporter, but merely a propagandist and apologist for the NDP.
Thanks for proving our point, Murray.

Do Your Research, Rookie!
We laughed out loud when we saw this...
"Some of the blame must fall on Wall, who has tolerated partisan mean-spiritedness from caucus members in the house, and even from caucus staff members who waste their days by using taxpayers' resources to mount political attacks through anonymous blogging."
We admit we haven't been kind to Mandryk because quite frankly we believe he's a lazy and less than insightful reporter. The above paragraph demonstrates that.
To Mandryk, rather than accepting NDP talking points as fact from (the soon to be ousted) NDP MLA Kevin Yates, or from the apparently homophobic NDP VP Kent E. Peterson, why don't you do your job and ask questions before printing?
We know people in the Sask Party caucus office. As a matter of fact, we know people from the NDP caucus as well. People send us information. Lots of different people. From all over Saskatchewan. Some are politically connected. Some are not.
For the record, the Sask Party caucus office is in no way, shape or form connected with the creation, the on-going contribution, or editorial content of this blog.
We are a group of independent right-wing citizens against the socialist policies of the NDP and their leader. By that default, we are supporters of the Saskatchewan Party and believe that they are the party best able to move us away from the socialist and union based policies of the NDP.
And to be totally truthful, we kinda like Premier Brad Wall.
By the same token, we think Dwain Lingenfelter is a four-time married political disaster and had it not been for his enormous ego, he could have had a pretty good life living in Alberta as an oil company executive. But instead he has come back, and we believe he will destroy our province if the voters ever allow him to govern.
And that is the reason for this blog!
By the making his untrue and unresearched statement above, the question begs to be asked, "What other issues is Mandryk not researching before they go to print?"
A good political reporter would have taken the time to get that fact and ask the question, not become a mouthpiece for the NDP because he is too lazy to check out the facts.
It`s"J" school 101, Murray.

Union Hypocrisy
Health care union in Saskatchewan are crying foul on a letter sent to union members from SAHO.
A letter sent by the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO) to health-care union members who have been without a contract for more than two years is being called "bullying" and "intimidating" by one union.
What incredible hypocrisy. First of all, a letter being "intimidating"? Please... If any union member finds a letter from an employer the least bit threatening, there are legal courses of action they can initiate.
Secondly, during a recent union drive in Saskatchewan by COPE, union organizers not only sent letters to company employees but also called them at home and in some cases actually came to their homes. Thankfully, the union drive was unsuccessful. But to have a union organizer stand on your doorstep in essence telling the employee "we know where you live", that is intimidation.
And this is not just COPE. This is modus operandi for all unions. (See point "u")
Finally,
But employees such as Celine Hounjet, a medical laboratory technologist at Royal University Hospital, say they already voted on a similar -- arguably better -- agreement and rejected it by giving their unions strike mandates.
She said "angry doesn't start to describe" how she felt when she received the letter from SAHO.
"It's fine if they want to do this in public, it's a public war in the media or whatever, but once you start sending it to my home, you've crossed the line," she said.
We wish the journalists in this province would do their homework. Not just an average employee (Union ORC!)
Facts are union killers. The only way a union survives in a thriving economy is by keeping its members in the dark.
It doesn't surprise us that union leadership is angered by SAHO. How dare they give their employees truthful information about their own offer!
Union members need to rise up against their leadership!

Workers of the World Unite!
Against union leadership...
We've always maintained that union workers are more at risk from their union bosses than their own managers. It's union leadership that has become corrupt, using working men and women as pawns for their own political games.
Remember, when the people lead, the leaders follow.
Let union members vote on their own contract!

The Depths To Which They Sink
Dwain Lingenfelter, the NDP and their union proxies are after our children.
Consider this letter attached to the graduating students of Bishop James Mahoney High School in Saskatoon.
Consider this letter attached to the graduating students of Bishop James Mahoney High School in Saskatoon.
Who allowed this letter to be included with a high school diploma?
How many more schools were infected by this document?
Was the government asked to do the same?
Notice how the first sentence of the letter mentions the NDP. If the leader of the opposition wants to wish graduating students well, he should as the leader of the opposition. The moment Lingenfelter mentions a party, it becomes political propaganda.
This letter is outrageous. This is not a letter of congratulations. This is an attempt to introduce high school students to the NDP (which is probably a continuation of what their left wing union teachers were already doing).
There are NO depths to which Lingenfelter and the NDP will not sink.
UPDATE...
It seems as though the signature above may not even be Lingenfelter's. Take a look at a document that we know Lingenfelter signed.
The signature on this document bears very little resemblance to the one on the graduate letter. Politicians often use a signature stamp, but this one seems like it may have been signed by a staffer.
In other words, the probable first document from Dwain Lingenfelter to a first time voter is likely not even signed by him.
Seems to us that Dwain is probably being a bit... disingenuous. But we expect nothing less from Dwain Lingenfelter.
UPDATE...
A listener to JGL just coined a new election phrase...
"It stinks if it comes from Link"

The Kiss of Death
NDP VP Kent E. Peterson, author of two blogs recently supported Heather McIntyre for her bid to become the NDP candidate in Regina South. As a matter of fact, he introduced her at the nomination meeting.
Bad move, Heather...
Despite Peterson's ringing endorsement, Yens Pederson won the nomination.
"Last year, Pedersen campaigned to become NDP leader and placed third in the four-person race."
BTW, we wonder what Andrew Thompson thinks about Peterson's bad jokes?

NDP Concerned Citizens Brigade #8
Longtime NDP Orc Jacquie Christienson appears with a Star Phoenix LTTE. Just another ordinary citizen opposed to private CT scans...
Well, as faithful readers know by now, she's not.
Oh look... She's a CUPE President. And a collector of old Commonwealth editions.
And this is the best part... Christienson is quoted in an NDP website under "What the Media is Saying"
The bold headline, Private surgical care eyed (SP, March 30), shows that health care is still a top of mind issue. I take issue with Health Minister Don McMorris saying that people don't care how delivery is done. Of course he says no one will pay out of pocket. That would be too obvious. So, to get around people's objections, McMorris will silently channel public dollars into private clinics to do what the public clinics can do more efficiently, cheaply and with better outcomes. Does the minister think the public is stupid? -Jacquie Christenson, The StarPhoenix
It's the old NDP shell game. They don't even identifiy her, and try to give her the credibility of "media" even though she has been working for the NDP in the Saskatoon Riversdale constituency and with the Station 20 West lefties for many years.
Does the Minister think the public is stupid? No, but evidently the NDP does.

The Passion of the Hubich Redux
After we directed our readers to this bizzare post on Larry Hubich's blog, an interesting dialogue occurred between Hubich and some of his commenters.
Here are our thoughts.
First of all, you can tell a lot about a blogger by not only their posts, but by how they react to their detractors in the comments section.
Secondly, we have found that when a blogger screws up, they will try to bury the post under a myriad of new posts. Hubich who doesn't blog all that often buried that JG post under a pile of videos after he was challenged on his post.
Hubich`s comments are highlighted in blue.
My point is, that Gormley et al are making broad and sweeping statements that are false, inflammatory, and hate based. And attempting to paint everyone with the same brush.
You never hear him rant against the Chamber of Commerce or bloviating because Wal-Mart is constantly in court paying fines and settling lawsuits out of court for violating workers rights.
He and his employer need to be investigated by the RCMP for inciting hatred.
Rather than backing away from his ridiculous assertion that Gormley and Rawlco need to be investigated by the RCMP, Hubich restates it. For a union boss, he sure seems to have a thin skin.
Secondly, if Rawlco should be investigated for inciting hatred, by that same standard Hubich and the SFL should be investigated for similar posts on his blog about Brad Wall getting his marching orders from the Chamber of Commerce. Or is it just right wingers that need to be investigated? The whole thing about RCMP investigations is ludicrous.
Believe me, having spent the last 3 decades working in the labour movement I can distinguish between normal healthy respectful disagreement and hatred.
The problem is many reasonable people don't believe Hubich. We are unaware of any position he may have held on any Human Rights commission, or unaware of any law degree he may have. So we`re not quite sure what makes him believe that he has the ability to define hatred.
Then the comments become quite interesting.
Hubich deleted his next comment, in which he claimed that Rawlco had only contacted him twice personally to appear on JGL. Then this...
Last evening at 11:24 pm I posted an entry in response to a commenter here.
I my entry I suggested that in the past 2 years I have received invitations to respond on the John Gormley Show on only two occassions.
On reflection, that was not accurate, and I acknowledge that there were probably other instances to which I did not avail myself of the opportunity to response to requests. (Although I do not have records of those instances).
As a result, I have removed the erroneous posting and I offer an apology for any inconvenience the comment may have caused.
While Hubich retracted the comment (only after he was challenged), the fact is, he lied. Or he misspoke. Or he attempted to mislead about how many times he has been asked to appear on JGL. This gives us reasonable cause to ask, as the President of the largest labour organization in the province, what other things has Hubich not been exactly truthful about?
And finally....
As for you implying that I'm a spokesperson for the NDP, well I'm not.
No, we agree that Larry Hubich isn't.
However, at the last NDP convention Hubich was one of Dwain Lingenfelter's nominators, despite one of our commenters claims that he did not (and that he was actually there!). And the union/NDP ties in Saskatchewan are well documented.
This post from Hubich was ridiculous from the beginning, His comments only made it worse.

NDP Concerned Citizen's Brigade #7
Another NDP Orc surfaces in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix with a LTTE, Sandy Weyland
No Sandy, this MLA is not being too selective. She understands that nothing she can offer you will please you and your desire to bring the provincial NDP back to power.
These idiots have no shame.

The Passion of the Hubich
One thing about SFL President Larry Hubich is you always know where he stands, even when he is wrong.
Take for instance this post about Newstalk 980's John Gormley. Yes, we tend to agree with Gormley as much as Hubich tends to disagree. But Hubich's latest post about Gormley, as well as being factually incorrect, borders on hysterical.
Take a look at this statement from Hubich;
Even the caption is misleading and dishonest. "We can expect unions to break the law"? What evidence does Mr. Gormley or his station have to support such a conclusion or such a broad and sweeping statement? Unions don't break laws. Mark my words, if unions did routinely break laws as implied by Mr. Gormley the jails would be full of union leaders. The courts would be bogged down with case after case of unions violating the law.
Really? then what about this latest SEIU orchestrated law break? Truth be known, union leadership should have been thrown in jail, or at least fined for trespassing on private property. The problem with union thuggery is that you can't throw 500 people in jail or give them citations. Unions know this. Police don't even infringe for fear of escalating the situation (and possibly because they are unionized themselves).
But the union DID break the law.
Of course if Hubich had balls, he would appear on Gormley's show and defend the labour position, just as Barb Byers does for the CLC. Byers, by the way, was Hubich's predecessor.
But instead of appearing on the most listened to talk show in the province, Hubich creates a union boycott of the show. Where are the courage of his convictions? If he's right and Gormley is wrong, let's hear it!
But this last comment completely slayed us;
"Mr. Gormley, and the station he works for are engaged in a campaign of inciting hatred against unions, hatred against union members, and of fostering intolerance.
Perhaps the RCMP should be investigating them."
Yes, Larry. The RCMP should investigate everyone who disagrees with the union/NDP line and speaks out about it. How horrifying! Free speech? In Canada? How dare he!
The truth is Hubich is losing control of the province and he knows it. The NDP are being led by a person almost universally despised and will not win the next election, the population and the economy are growing and people are breaking free of their previous NDP chains. Not to mention the passing of Bills 5,6 and 80 under Hubich's union leadership role.
BTW, watch for the union's last ditch effort in 2011, a widespread strike across the board trying to force voters to bring the NDP back. And that effort will backfire.
As for Larry Hubich, maybe he should consider changing his attitude. Just like most Saskatchewan people have changed theirs.

Missing The Obvious
Saskatchewan has never really had an insightful political reporter. Murray Mandryk is the perfect example of this. On so many fronts, Mandryk just doesn't get it.
Take a look at this column from May 15th about an NDP renewal
"Suddenly, though, there are signs that the NDP's reluctance to renew its ranks is changing. Trew's retirement announcement has opened the door to a seat that the NDP have held for 24 straight years. There is now a spirited NDP nomination race in Regina Coronation Park with Jaime Garcia, Tamara Harder, Fred Kress, Tory McGregor and David Froh. Meanwhile, Meili is one of three New Democrats vying for Saskatoon Sutherland.
And with Regina Northeast opening up for a younger candidate (possibly someone like Petersen) the NDP appears eager to do battle in a seat that the Saskatchewan Party is clearly targeting with SaskPower vice-president Kevin Doherty. Add a few more younger faces to the group of first-term MLAs that includes Cam Broten, Trent Wotherspoon, Darcy Furber and Chartier and the NDP caucus would suddenly become a lot more youthful.
Perhaps the NDP's long-awaited renewal is finally happening."
Mandryk misses the most important question of all.
Renewing to what?
Young faces do not necessarily mean renewal. It's about new ideas, new directions. What are the new ideas these young guns are bringing forward?
Ryan Meili is the only one listed with new ideas and lost to Lingenfelter because of them.
With respect to Furber, Broten and Wotherspoon, these guys are acting like nothing but NDP thugs of old. They're more 1970 than 2010. What have they brought to the debate, other than a fresh dose of vitriol?
And finally, what kind of self-respecting individual would be attracted to Dwain Lingenfelter's NDP? What kind of person would desire to work under his management style? His blatant narcissism? The man who speaks about "HIS" party, unlike his predecessors who spoke of "OUR" party?
There's nothing new here folks, move along...
It's too bad we have to ask the questions that Mandryk is obviously incapable of asking.

Throwing Crap Against A Wall
And hoping it sticks.
NDP rookie Danielle Chartier, making mountains out of molehills;
But Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Dustin Duncan said the status was changed at the request of the owners -- the Order of St. Benedict -- and said he was confident no harm would come to the facility.

Unions Can't Be Trusted
Just the latest example... (Once again we need to be clear, we are NOT talking about rank and file union members. We are referring to union organizers and union executives)
Last year, the Teamsters Union, a labour group that represents blue-collar and professional workers, launched a full-scale campaign to organize Canadian FedEx employees.
Local FedEx employees were soon being approached by union representatives about joining, but many weren't interested, Gibson said.
Soon after, employees noticed union representatives writing down employee licence plate numbers in the parking lot, Gibson said. They then began receiving mail at home from the union addressed to the owner of the vehicle, which in many cases wasn't the FedEx employee, Gibson said.
Gibson, 37, and five other employees asked SGI to investigate what they suspected was a privacy breach. They were contacted last month by SGI's chief privacy officer with a letter confirming suspicions their personal information was given out inappropriately.
SGI spokesperson Kim Hambleton said the privacy breach was traced to the Ministry of Justice, where it was discovered an employee had given the information to the union.
The rules need to change. This was not a mistake. This is a deliberate breach of privacy in to help union organizers harass and intimidate non-union employees into joining a union (which increases the union bottom line).
At the very least the employee should be fired, and the government portion of her pension be taken back to set an example for any other union sympathizer that considers doing the same.
Unions then using the illegally acquired information should face massive fines in order to stop them from doing this again.
The law needs to change to protect workers and their privacy who aren't interested in joining unions. They have to be protected from union thugs.
The local Teamsters union representative declined comment (surprise), and we doubt this little tidbit will appear on SFL President Larry Hubich's blog any time soon with Larry claiming that he is against this sort of thing.
This is just another example of why most hard working people, both union and otherwise, hate what unions have become.

I'm Surprised He Didn't Ask This Fellow To Bend Over...
... to use him as a footstool.
What kind of a person thinks this is a good photo? Better yet, what kind of a political leader?

Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due
We rarely agree with Jim Fodey aka leftdog on anything. However on this post, we absolutely do.
Good post, Jim. Violence is NEVER an option instead of political discourse.
