Unions Can't Be Trusted

Just the latest example... (Once again we need to be clear, we are NOT talking about rank and file union members. We are referring to union organizers and union executives)

Last year, the Teamsters Union, a labour group that represents blue-collar and professional workers, launched a full-scale campaign to organize Canadian FedEx employees.

Local FedEx employees were soon being approached by union representatives about joining, but many weren't interested, Gibson said.

Soon after, employees noticed union representatives writing down employee licence plate numbers in the parking lot, Gibson said. They then began receiving mail at home from the union addressed to the owner of the vehicle, which in many cases wasn't the FedEx employee, Gibson said.

Gibson, 37, and five other employees asked SGI to investigate what they suspected was a privacy breach. They were contacted last month by SGI's chief privacy officer with a letter confirming suspicions their personal information was given out inappropriately.

SGI spokesperson Kim Hambleton said the privacy breach was traced to the Ministry of Justice, where it was discovered an employee had given the information to the union.

The rules need to change. This was not a mistake. This is a deliberate breach of privacy in to help union organizers harass and intimidate non-union employees into joining a union (which increases the union bottom line).

At the very least the employee should be fired, and the government portion of her pension be taken back to set an example for any other union sympathizer that considers doing the same.

Unions then using the illegally acquired information should face massive fines in order to stop them from doing this again.

The law needs to change to protect workers and their privacy who aren't interested in joining unions. They have to be protected from union thugs.

The local Teamsters union representative declined comment (surprise), and we doubt this little tidbit will appear on SFL President Larry Hubich's blog any time soon with Larry claiming that he is against this sort of thing.

This is just another example of why most hard working people, both union and otherwise, hate what unions have become.

I find this scary. What other information has been provided from unionize staff from other government departments?

The maximum fines and criminal charges should be levied, no doubt about it.

I think that not only should the Justice employee be charged and disciplined under the Privacy act, I think that the Teamsters Union should be taken to the Labour Relations Board by Fed-ex to be disciplined for unfair organizing practices.

Perhaps this is side tracking a bit, but it is still on the topic of unions.
If you look at the complaints before the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board you will notice that a very high number of them are not from employees complaining about their employer, but rather from union members complaining about their union.
What is even more bothersome is that the union will hire a lawyer to represent themselves, paid for by membership dues, yet if the union member hires a lawyer they have to pay for it out of their own savings or line of credit or represent themselves against their own union. Essentially the union member pays for the lawyer that acts against them. After years of paying monthly dues, often adding up to thousands, even tens of thousands, of dollars the union member is left without the very representation they having being paying for. This is wrong and should be changed.
The only fair way to rectify this injustice would be to pass a law that would force the big American trade unions to use the union dues as they were intended to used by paying the legal bills and lawyers fees of the Saskatchewan working man/woman when they dare to stand up to the likes of Jimmy Hoffa Jr. or convicted criminal Robert Todd. (Todd was the Business manager of the Carpenters Union Local 1985 here in Saskatchewan and was convicted of savagely beating his ex-girlfriend. It was on the front page of the SP a few years ago.)
Jimmy Hoffa Jr. and the unions will hate this, because it will force them to be accountable and the NDP will defend Jimmy Hoffa Jr. and the unions, because they always stand beside the big American trade unions, but the union members will welcome the opportunity for justice.

The yappy little host of Humble Opinion seems to like to censor free speech. I have tried to post comments that use no profanity or smear tactics. Young nieve KP VP of the No Democratic Party refuses to post my comments. He must be afraid of the truth or can not fine a way to blame the Sask Party for what the employee and Teamsters did in violating the public trust.

Sad truly sad. I suspect he believes what these criminals did was the right thing.
